The standard retail version of Dante’s Inferno is a great game, but the DLC adds significant value:
Visceral Games’ Dante’s Inferno is not a faithful academic translation but a bombastic, God of War-style hack-and-slash. It follows a crusader, Dante, who returns home to find his beloved Beatrice murdered. He then pursues Lucifer himself through the nine circles (Limbo, Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Anger, Heresy, Violence, Fraud, and Treachery). The game was notable for its mature themes, innovative “absolve or punish” QTE mechanics, and a striking art style influenced by Gustave Doré and Wayne Barlowe.
