Modern SPD keypads often support numerous output formats: Wiegand 26-bit, Clock & Data, Magnetic Stripe ABA Track II, or OSDP. Without the format tool, you cannot tell the keypad which protocol to use. If you hook a Wiegand 26-bit keypad to a 37-bit panel, the door will never open.
